The ruling class of the human kingdoms with few exceptions is petty and abusive. This deity is opposed by the openly malevolent Devil King who wishes to remake the world such that mankind would be even worse off. The chief god of the setting’s religious pantheon is an absent-minded whale who runs a crapsack world of violence and suffering for his own entertainment. In these satirical adventures, the eponymous character Rance cuts a path through the world seeking sex, profit and fame.
